Written Warranties for Pianos

Every piano we sell comes with the following written warranty:

We at Art Music gaurantee that the piano you have just purchased from is in good working order, specifically:

  1. That there are no cracks in the soundboard;
  2. That there are no cracks in any of the bridges;
  3. That there are no cracks in the frame;
  4. That there is ample felt on all hammers (including those in upper treble) – either because the hammers are new or have been recovered, or because there was only minimal wear when we obtained the piano, such that the amount of felt corresponds with the amount found on a new set of hammers;
  5. That there is ample felt and/or leather on all backchecks and action parts (see 4 above) such as damper/spoon cushion felts, notches, balance hammers, jack cushion felts, rocker felts, etc;
  6. That there are no moth eggs in any of the felt, and that there is no damage to any of the felt through moth;
  7. That there is no woodworm, and that there has been no damage to any part of the piano through woodworm;
  8. That all wrest pins (tuning pins) are sufficiently tight to ensure stability of tuning, either because we have re-pinned the piano or because it was well-maintained prior to our acquiring it – this therefore also means that the pin-block (also known as the wrest-plank) is not cracked nor has become soft.
  9. That all strings are free of corrosion, either because we have re-strung the piano or (occasionally) because it was well maintained and looked after prior to our acquiring it;
  10. That the tone has not lost its’ sparkle;
  11. That none of the action parts are suffering from wood fatigue, and that all springs are correctly tensioned;
  12. That all pedal and pedal trapwork functions properly and quietly;
  13. That all moving parts move freely – ie all centres are free without being loose, and that no adjustable screws/set-off buttons are jammed or broken;
  14. That at the time of purchase the piano was correctly regulated and also tuned to concert pitch.
