Jazz, Hybrid F-hole & Electric
Arch-top Guitars
This category of guitars include some famous instruments, such as the
Gibson 335 and Gibson 135, the Ibanez George Benson, the Gibson 175,
amongst many others.
Tonally they vary from guitars with a bright, clear tone (normally associated
with Rock music) such as the Gibson 135, to the much softer tone of the
Ibanez George Benson (normally associated with Jazz).
Hybrid electric guitars are those which fall in between the Rock and
Jazz categories in tone. These include the Gibson 335 and Gibson 446.
Hybrid electrics are very versatile, since they lend themselves to playing
a wide variety of styles of music, and are widely used by professional
guitarists and session musicians
These guitars have either semi-solid or hollow bodies (as distinct from
solid electric guitars) and two F-Holes (similar to a violin) instead
of the single - normally circular – found on acoustic and classical
guitars.

Gison 446 Archtop F-hole electric guitar in tobacco burst finish, with original hard case.
Gibson Custom Shop means that this is a 100% hand-made guitar, with solid carved Spruce top, and solid carved Mahogany back, sides and neck, with Rosewood fingerboard.
Very rare outside the USA, and not a well-known guitar, but the quality and value for money is amazing - tone through a good amp is as good as if not better than any any electric I've ever heard or played. We'd like to keep it but sadly our bank manager won't let us....... |
